Klingenschmitt and the U.S. Navy
Navy Lt Gordon James Klingenschmitt will go down in Christian history as a man that not only stood for principle but also for faith in the name of Jesus Christ. Klingenschmitt is (or was) a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy that was reprimanded and court-martialed for praying in the name of Jesus.
Klingenschmitt had to choose between following orders from a commanding officer of higher rank and following the conscience of his faith. He followed his conscience.
His fight has led to a Congressional act enforce future Chaplains to pray according to their faith. His fight also has led to the disciplinary action of being dismissed by the Navy.
