I can imagine a movie utilizing extreme Biblical scenes being explained as thematically violent (e.g. David chopping off Goliath's head), however the thematic scene rating of “Facing the Giants" is based on a proselytizing message representing one religion - Christianity. Those that rate movies at MPAA felt this might be offensive to Americans that are not Christians. They must have been considering Islamo-fanatics that jumped with glee on 9/11. God forbid that they view a transformative message to the true religion of peace.
