The thing that stands out to me is the newly elected (Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori) American Episcopalian leader's comments:
"This church, the body of Christ, is not wholly one and not wholly two," she said during the debate. "The resolution which is before you is far from adequate. The language is exceedingly challenging but it is the best we can do at this convention."
"We need to keep working ... to find the common body in this church," she said. "This is the best we are going to manage at this point in the church's history."
Why do I find her comments fascinating? It is Schori that backed the ordination of Bishop [sic] Gene Robinson to the Bishopric of New Hampshire. Robinson has a homosexual partner and openly flaunts his homosexuality in the face of the Holy Scriptures. Robinson even went so far as to say, "I am not an abomination." Obviously he knew that the understanding of Scripture contradicted his statement or he would not have enunciated his self-righteousness so vociferously.
Back Schori: How long does anyone think a homosexual supporter will comply with the wishes of the International Anglican Communion?
