Apparently Russia has been caught by the smaller nation of Georgia in acts of espionage. Georgia is a former Republic of the defunct Soviet Union. Georgia has been irritating its former hegemon by attempting to become part of the NATO alliance. Of course this irritates Russia which is now consolidating a form of Government that allows more power at the top. This suggests that Russian eyes might be looking to re-establish its buffer empire it lost when the Cold War ended.
