The Emptiness of Liberal Lives

Richard Rivette delivers his perception of the problem of Liberals. The centrality of the Liberal problem is their wishing to solve the world's problems and simultaneously deny the existence of absolutes which ultimately diminishes the existence of an absolute God. Rivette's awesome essay relates that moral relativity will not solve the world's problems because there is no foundation of an absolute. Read the essay it is pretty good.

GOD IS LISTENING, WATCHING AND WAITING by Richard Rivette 8.2.06

I think its time to halt the march of relativism. Perhaps the Pandora’s box debate opened by the Democrats claiming to recall God to their side will backfire on them more intensely than first suspected. What a foolishly hollow attempt to claim beliefs they don’t hold.

I believe God is listening and watching our worldly debates. Maybe not in the literal sense so many atheists like to point out as the hallmark of collective religious ignorance. But their constant denial of the existence of God is not the same as negating God. Deity is not so easily removed from our lives and thoughts regardless of the overwhelming effort to accomplish that ignorant feat.

Now, apparently thanks to secular relativism, schools will not teach right from wrong in the United Kingdom. According to liberalism and political correctness, there are no absolutes any more - no God. God is about as certainly absolute as you can get. However, with everything made relative, nothing is relevant. And in their world, neither is God. So liberals really can’t claim a relationship with a power they don’t recognize.

I think I have discerned what liberals really fear about conservative beliefs in God and I don’t know why this didn’t dawn on me sooner:

Liberal critics assail George W. Bush for praying for guidance yet few on the right seem to understand why. I believe liberals are not concerned that the President is following any particular path outlined by God, but that he is listening to his innermost thoughts at all. Following a path hasn’t been the problem. It doesn’t matter to them whether he espouses Christian or any other values. They truly don’t believe in God. Even if they say they do. Regardless of the public relations stunts this past month. (Summer 2006 with Obama Barack calling to Democrats to "reclaim God" as an issue.) They don’t believe in angels nor that messages from God, nor divine inspiration actually exist at all. They have never personally encountered God, nor angels nor believe it possible. That is their contradiction and why their intended use of God as a political ploy will fail.

What they fear in our President, and anyone who believes in God, is actually only what they fear in themselves. Their lives are such shambles, in such turmoil with so many unanswered personal and family problems, so vacant and they rely so heavily on their own failed instinct, drugs and earthly pleasures, having denied God entry into their lives for so long, that they actually fear the President is following only his own thoughts. Because that is what THEY are doing every day. Selfishly. Literally. They believe that no inspiration originates with a higher power nor collective conscience. And thus, George Bush cannot possibly be having a relationship with God to help guide his actions and this country or this world. For those of us who pray every day for help to navigate the world or seek some comfort among God’s thoughts, this must be a revelation.

That defines a liberal’s fear and their limits. The liberal left of this country know that their own knowledge and grasp of world events, cultures and attitudes are severely limited so they make the same attribution of their President. And by extension to all who believe. That is why those who live in the notorious red states are considered ignorant by the coastal intellectual liberal elite!

Their view is akin to someone who plays a sport poorly in an isolated environment and assesses others abilities and potential based solely on their own narrow experience. Because they could never achieve what is unlikely to their experience - build a business, create a center for worship, invent a new energy source, care for countless sick and injured, imagine something that alters our global paradigm, meditate silently and be filled with a spirit of love and compassion, or hear a subtly whispered solution to a problem, that others cannot possibly either. But I have witnessed these things every day. I have been extremely fortunate to feel inspiration touch me constantly. I am blessed.

I feel liberals focus on what cannot be done, what will not occur, what doesn’t exist, what is bad about every good idea, and never dare to dream of what can be accomplished, for that requires inspiration, something they vehemently deny. Their limits define the limits of their universe and so they make the same assumption of the President. When in fact, he has tapped into a source of higher energy that eludes them.

Liberals will never be more than their own knowledge base and so they judge the world to be as limited. According to their world we will never feed all the poor, never plant democratic ideals in dictatorships, never solve environmental problems working WITH business instead of blaming it - and we should never expect more from the impoverished than they expect of themselves. Liberals have shaped a world of pessimism, hopelessness, loneliness, depression and fear, and they want us to join them there. They believe that all they have to do is think harder and they can solve anything. I’m sorry. That’s not how the universe operates. I have enjoyed too many inspired moments creating music, writing and producing artwork, apart from business achievements, to believe only in my own thoughts. God can speak through us if we let him. And in a myriad of untold ways. Angels can save your life if you let them.

Liberals apparently only trust themselves and the trust is poorly placed.

President Bush’s life course changed dramatically when he revealed his own failings and worked on the solution as provided by inspiration. Yet, liberal Democrats continue to attack only his failings. They focus on immediate effects of policy around the world and say that failure is imminent and we are doomed. They look at problems and only see how bad they are at the moment, not what could be molded from them in the future. They interview the bereaved and never the joyful in places like Iraq. How sad for their existence for they are flawed as well and would fare far worse in the same executive position George Bush has chosen to tackle.

This is nothing new. The liberal left has constantly warned of imminent global danger from a wide variety of phenomena, none of which they truly understand. The cause celebre of the day becomes their rallying point, defying even logic at times, and they push for new and greater restrictions on us all in anticipation of disaster that never arrives. I think their goal is to make everyone else as hopeless and miserable as they are in private.

For all liberals’ flailing and expressed desire to “save the world from itself”, their mindset fails to grasp the simplest truth:

You can trust God more than you can trust yourself for God is infinite wisdom.

Give in to the higher power.

God is listening and watching and waiting. All that is required is you join the conversation.

Now go be hopeful.

Thanks for the post Richard.

By the way, I had cross posted this on a blog that I dedicate mostly to the Christian faith. You evidently found it, however I did not find the same comment as here.

I am afraid I reported it as spam, sorry about that.

You are good at SlantRight though.
