Compare Vietnam to Iraq?

The New York Times is yet again doing their best to act as a Fifth Column promoting Islamofascist strategy and belittling the American war effort in Iraq.

As many of you know the Left enjoys equating the War on Terrorism in Iraq to the Viet Nam War. The Viet Nam War is considered a loss because Americans left South Vietnam to fend for themselves. In the leaving, South Vietnam capitulated to the brutal North Vietnamese Communists.

Recently President Bush equated the current violence in Iraq to that of the Tet Offensive of North Vietnam in 1968. Now remember the U.S. left South Vietnam in 1973 and the South surrendered in 1975 (
Time Line). Although U.S. forces were surprised by the North Vietnamese army and Viet Cong (South Viet Communists), American troops spanked the invaders pretty hard. That battle was not a loss. That battle had a large amount of American casualties and that is what the President was referring.

American casualties do not even come close to our Vietnamese experience. The casualty rate posted at
Tom Rants has 20 Islamofascist terrorists dead to 1 American dead. Iraq is brutal but if we compare it to Vietnam, we are way ahead of the war which a victory for Iraq democracy and the American military.
