Supporters of Senator Inhofe,
You may have already heard the news. Seven minutes into their departure from Iraq, the C-130 airplane Senator Inhofe was flying on was shot at by three rocket propelled grenades. Evasive action was taken by the skilled flight crew and flares were deployed in the event the rockets were heat-seeking.
I know your reaction to hearing Senator Inhofe is safely back in the United States is like ours: relief.
But an elected leader within the Oklahoma Democrat Party had a different reaction this morning: disappointment.
In fact, two liberal Democrat websites posted the news with headlines such as:
"So close yet so far...Inhofe plane fired on in Iraq""We can't get rid of this crazy bastard"
Can you believe that? It doesn't matter what party you belong to or even if you're a U.S. Senator: any time an American citizen safely returns from Iraq is cause for celebration.
We often talk about how liberals will do anything to defeat our Senator next year, but this proves when they say they will do "anything," they really mean it.
More than a year away from Election Day, the race hasn't even begun to heat up yet. But with hateful rhetoric already this intense, we must be fully prepared for the liberal Democrats to be unrelenting in their vile remarks.
Most importantly, we must never lower to their level. We must remain focused on the issues.
Senator Inhofe has a tremendous record of service, and we can be proud of what he has accomplished for Oklahoma in Washington.
