Temple Mount and Hamas

It is interesting that Hamas the scourge to peace between Palestinian Arabs and Israelis made an attempt to take control of the Temple Mount. The Temple Mount is currently managed by the Jordanian Waqf. I am guessing Israel has allowed this to continue because Jordan and Israel have official recognition of each other, thus Jordanian management of the two Mosques on the Temple Mount deals with International geopolitics as it affects Mohammedans.

How would Israel react if Hamas had successfully booted the Jordanian Waqf out of the Temple Mount? Certainly it would not be an action that could be tolerated. Hamas still maintains its purpose for existence is to terminate Israel’s existence.

Israel would have to attack a Temple Mount controlled by Hamas. You know what that would mean, right? It would mean International outrage from Mohammedans and Western Appeasing/Leftists. I suspect even the Bush Administration would sell out Israel and call the scenario an outrage.

But guess what, an Israeli extrication of Hamas would mean Jewish control of the entire Temple Mount for the first time since 70 AD. If Israeli friends in America could force the Bush Administration to relent and support such an action it would be as momentous as when
Israel re-took all of Jerusalem in 1967 after Arab aggression against Israel.

Alas it is all a whimsical dream. Israel’s version of a Security Agency – Shin Bet – foiled the Hamas attempt to control the Temple Mount.
