Fairness Doctrine Revisited?

The Fairness Doctrine, have you heard of it? The essence of the Fairness Doctrine is that broadcast media (radio and television) must by law show the opposite of controversial editorial stands. If one side is presented, the other side must be presented as well.

The Democrats under the leadership of Senator Diane Feinstein is trying to
resurrect the Fairness Doctrine that was abolished in 1987.

Now why would the Democrats wish to reestablish the Fairness Doctrine? Hmmm … could it be the slanted Left Democrats wish to control or manipulate Free Speech? Under the auspices of the United Nations, Leftists have been trying to control and regulate the Internet for years. Another attack on Free Speech don’t you see?

I am certain the Democratic Party’s interest in resurrecting the Fairness Doctrine is because the Supreme Court squelched McCain/Feingold which would have enabled the FEC to stifle Free Speech by preventing Commentary (blogs, Radio or TV) on political candidates during a determined time period prior to an election.

Obviously the fringe Left Democrats are aiming to curb Conservative Talk Radio. The Leftist attempt at Leftist Talk Radio failed because there were no listeners. No listeners meant no one paid the bills. I am surprised the Leftists have not tried to subsidize Lefty Talk Radio with tax payer money. Maybe that will be the next shot if Feinstein fails with her push for the Fairness Doctrine.
