It Seems Only Democrats can Bork Nominees

Do you know what getting Borked is? That is when a Leftist Senator goes into a conniption when a Justice is nominated for the Supreme Court that is Right of Center or even viewed as further Right than a Leftist can tolerate.

The thing is the word “bork” has entered the world of a dictionary because of the common portrayal of the word to politics or a position in an office. The irony is “borking” seems to apply particularly to a Democrat(s) doing all in their power to prevent a Conservative from attaining an office which in most cases a Conservative is qualified.

The Leftist Democrats have fine tuned the art of borking into an art form. The Left is so well versed on borking that they have developed strategies with their partners the Mainstream Media (MSM) to preemptively propagandize for their far Left nominees to slow down or even prevent Conservatives from borking a Left Wing activist jurist.

If you think I am incorrect just look all the glowing revelry being dished by the Left about an obviously Leftist Judge who believes in the judiciary actively setting policy (i.e. Leftist agenda) rather than interpreting the Constitution. The Left and the MSM are hot to paint a picture to convince the public Sotomayor did not mean what she said about setting policy from the Bench. The Leftist/MSM marriage is portraying Sotomayor as a person raised in poverty in the big city where things were not nice for minorities. Sotomayor is Hispanic (the fasting growing minority in the USA) and managed to make it to the coveted prestige colleges of the Ivy League for an education leading to a Law degree.

Indeed the story is accurate and I agree with the Left that Sotomayor is deserving of adulation for living the American dream of success. I have to tell you though; if a highly qualified individual for SCOTUS is rejected because of his Conservative views then a Leftist should be rejected for the same reason. Do not make the mistake of believing she is moderate Center-Left individual.

Sotomayor is poisoned as a racist from her own lips:

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." (AC)

Newt Gingrich brings insight into Sotomayor’s racist statement by reversing subjects of her comments:

"Imagine a judicial nominee said 'my experience as a white man makes me better than a latina woman' wouldn’t they have to withdraw? New racism is no better than old racism.

A white man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. Latina woman racist should also withdraw."
(Ibid)

President Barack Hussein Obama has stepped in to defend his choice for SCOTUS Justice:

“There are, of course, some in Washington who are attempting to draw old battle lines and playing the usual political games, pulling a few comments out of context to paint a distorted picture of Judge Sotomayor’s record,” Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. “But I am confident that these efforts will fail; because Judge Sotomayor’s 17-year record on the bench – hundreds of judicial decisions that every American can read for him or herself – speak far louder than any attack; her record makes clear that she is fair, unbiased, and dedicated to the rule of law.

[Obama schmoozes about Sotomayor personal story – then]

“No nominee should be seated without rigorous evaluation and hearing; I expect nothing less,” Obama said. “But what I hope is that we can avoid the political posturing and ideological brinksmanship that has bogged down this process, and Congress, in the past.”

Can you believe that last quote of BHO? It is the Democratic Party that is the king of ideological brinksmanship by giving meaning to the word “borking.” Indeed then Senator Obama voted against John Roberts as Chief Justice (one of 28 nays) and was highly involved in a borking filibuster against confirming Justice Alito.

So BHO is saying “avoid the political posturing and ideological brinksmanship” of the past. It reads more like avoidance as long as a Democrat President nominates a Justice with a Democrat dominated Senate to me.

Karl Rove weighed in with some Conservative insight about the Sotomayor nomination. Read Rove’s “Empathy' Is Code for Judicial Activism”:
