In War, the Political Spectrum Must Find a Middle Ground of Agreement

I have been a huge supporter of the Patriot Act as a means to protect American citizens from radical Islamofascism.

A Federal Judge in Oregon handed down a decision ruling that
two provisions of the Patriot Act are Unconstitutional violating the Fourth Amendment.

Fourth Amendment:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken ruled that two provisions of the Patriot Act ran afoul to “probable cause” in the Fourth Amendment.

I hate to agree with a Liberal Judiciary, but this time I think they got it right. Violation of “probable cause” works both ways in the polarization that exists in America. Imagine the Nixon style “dirty tricks” a Democratic President like a Hillary Clinton (God forbid) could do to harass her political enemies. The Clinton family has had a history of subverting the Law by mysteriously losing evidence or having it lost to protect their hide. Just think the kind of hijinks a fringe Leftist could use claiming the Patriot Act to go after the enemies of the Leftist agenda in America.

On the other hand American security and protection of American citizens is paramount to prevent another catastrophic heinous event as 9/11 in the future.

If only the Democrats and Republicans could hammer out specifics about what “probable cause” is relating to terrorism or hostile foreign enemies might be. Then define “probable cause” with the Fourth Amendment in mind pertaining to National Security from foreign hostility, treasonous citizens or legal aliens.

The current difficulty of “probable cause” is the difference between traditional crime and foreign hostility which may be supported by indigenous citizens. Surely Patriots of the Left and the Right want their families safe.

Leftists are more altruistic and Rightists are more get the job done whatever it takes. A middle ground must be found to protect America. In War the current Leftist anti-war stance will bring more trouble not alleviate trouble. In War the current Slanted Right total cutting out of Leftist concerns will lead to political stagnation. A clear cut goal for victory will never be pursued as long as both sides of the political spectrum will not find dialogue. And that might push America to a place that forsakes the revered U.S. Constitution in favor of a political civil war in which the Left or the Right begins to the call the government shots. That is a place that reminds me of the Roman Republic transforming into the Roman Empire: From the government of two Consuls and the Roman Senate to a centered power of one man/Emperor (or Political Party).

A similar modern version of the Roman transformation would be devastating to what has made America great. It is time for political dialogue.
