Israel foils plot to kill Palestinian president

Hamas is attempting to assasinate Mamoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority. The London Times Reports that Israeli inteligence foiled the plot by notifying Abbas.

What should we recognize from this report? One - The Palestinian Authority is anything but a stable organization. The PA operates more like an organized crime syndicate. In this case the syndicate is having an inner struggle as to who should run the operation. Two - Israel actually sent out a warning to Islamofascist President Abbas of the PA and Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). This is an indication that Israel would rather deal with Fatah than Hamas. I think that indication is a foolish course for allowing the PA to self-destruct would be an occurrence that the West could not ignore. Hamas is evil and their agenda is evil. This would become the forefront that even the MSM could not ignore.

I just read an interesting piece on this London Times article at Israpundit. Daled Amos does not say the assassination attempt by Hamas is untrue, however he has lingering doubts because of the lack of verification and the author - Uzi Mahnaimi. Amos claims that Mahnaimi is a former Israeli intelligence officer that quit becoming a leftist journalist. Amos also points out that Abu Obaida - a spokesman for the Al Qassam Brigades of Hamas - denies the reports of the assassination reports. Of course it is not like they would admit to assassination. None of this changes my take on the PA, Hamas or Fatah. The very existence of a rumor points to an unstable PA with mafia style thuggery vying for domination.
