Sarkozy and National Assembly Elections

President Sarkozy of France suffered the first set back of his Presidential regime. Sarkozy’s UMP Party lost elections reducing its majority from 357 seats to 315 seats out of 577 seats available at the French National Assembly.

The Socialist ran a spin on taxation that voters apparently listened to and did not like; nonetheless Sarkozy’s political coalition of partners still is the majority in the National Assembly. Sarkozy’s reform vigor is just a little tarnished, I suspect that the charisma that resulted in his election as President of France will prevail in most of his agenda.
