The WND has a photo of Mir and Osama together. The QandO blog wonders about its validity due to the lack of grey in Osama's beard. The indication may be a doctored picture (meaning the WND report fell for Islamofascist propaganda) or the beard may have been colored for the TV interview (which might allude to the truth of the Osama claim).
If Osama has acquired WMD it is likely of Russian origin. Ever since the demise of the Marxist Soviet Empire, tabs on WMD and weapons grade uranium have been misplaced. There is a huge potential a terrorist such as Osama or a rogue nation as Iran could have acquired that which is needed to create a WEAPON of MASS DESTRUCTION.
