Cairo Speech: My Thoughts Followed by Spencer’s Thoughts

I have not examined President Barack Hussein Obama’s Cairo speech in detail as yet. What I heard in the wee hours of the morning struck me that BHO was trying to build a common cause with the Mohammedan world by explaining America’s anguish over 9/11. I also heard things like America is not at war with Islam.

Indeed it would be difficult for an America to be at war with a religion. The very concept of a war with a religion runs completely against the grain of American foundational thinking. Religious freedom has been ingrained into Americans which has grown from a tolerance of diverse Christian sects and Denominations to a relative tolerance of non-Christian religions even if they may cause a moral dilemma with Christian thought. Americans even struggle with government scrutiny of what many would consider cults: Christian, New Age, Mind Control or whatever.

Since Americans in the 20th and 21st centuries have been taught that Islam (I prefer Mohammedanism) is one leg of the Judeo/Christian tradition. A precursor study of Mohammedanism would dispel that thinking. Mohammedanism is only a leg of Judeo/Christianity as much as its founder Mohammed attempted to borrow enough Judaism and Christianity to entice Jews and Christians to get in line with Theo-political-militaristic Mohammedanism.

It is not any truer now then it was when Jewish Arabs and Christian Arabs laughed at Mohammed resulting in Jewish and Christian massacres.

These are just a few thoughts that flashed before my mind as I listened to the President act like a dhimmi and a cohort simultaneously.

Robert Spencer has some real insight about the BHO Cairo speech you probably will not hear or read in the Mainstream Media. Spencer somewhat line items the speech with his thoughts inserted as one reads it.

Here is the text as prepared for delivery, provided by the White House, via USA Today, June 4 -- with my comments interspersed:

I am honored to be in the timeless city of Cairo, and to be hosted by two remarkable institutions. For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar has stood as a beacon of Islamic learning,

...whose Grand Sheikh, Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, has given his approval — on Islamic grounds — to suicide bombing.

and for over a century, Cairo University has been a source of Egypt's advancement. Together, you represent the harmony between tradition and progress. I am grateful for your hospitality, and the hospitality of the people of Egypt. I am also proud to carry with me the goodwill of the American people, and a greeting of peace from Muslim communities in my country: assalaamu alaykum.

According to Islamic law, a Muslim may only extend this greeting -- Peace be upon you -- to a fellow Muslim. To a non-Muslim he is to say, "Peace be upon those who are rightly guided," i.e., Peace be upon the Muslims. Islamic law is silent about what Muslims must …
