Move America Forward (MAF) is one of the premier pro-troop organizations in America. Instead criticizing soldiers for protecting America in their overseas mission they are supportive.
Peace movements are fine and even a legitimate view; however when a peace organization because so virulently anti-war that American troops are vilified it is unacceptable.
Organizations like Code Pink who attempt to use humiliation tactics to prevent military recruiting or to portray the American military as evil are the true evil.
I am on MAF’s mailing list. As such I receive information about MAF’s outreach to support American troops. Now I realize that much of the MAF email pertains to fundraising. I often post the content of the MAF email because it has information that may not be reported in the Mainstream Media.
One such case is the email I received today. MAF reports that an American that has converted to Mohammedanism went on an Islamofascist murdering spree in Arkansas. The traitorous American’s name is Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad. The American-Muslim shot up an Arkansas military recruiting center in Little Rock, AR. Muhammad murdered to Privates in the process before he was taken down. After Muhammad’s capture it was discovered he much more ammunition which only indicates he was intent on murdering more Americans.

Today in Little Rock, AR, a Muslim extremist shot up a recruiting center with an assault rifle from his black SUV. He killed 23-year-old Private William Long and injured Private Quinton Ezeagwula, both of the US Army. The suspect, Muslim convert Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, is in custody and police say he likely had “political and religious motives.”
At Move America Forward, we’ve been sounding the alarm about violence against our recruiters and their offices since our days in the streets of Berkeley, CA taking on the Code Pink whackos. While Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is worried about extremists protesting at tea parties, nobody bothered to investigate the Islamic extremist killer in this case who was recently in Yemen.
While Barack Obama keeps trying to protect the rights of Muslim terrorists at Guantanamo Bay and even free some of them in the United States, Americans are being killed right here in the United States, not to mention being under constant attack in Iraq and Afghanistan. What will it take to wake him up to the real threat faced by Americans?
We have to keep our voices loud and strong to wake up so many Americans that are taken in by the calm speeches while he continues to undermine American security and our efforts to defeat Islamic terrorism.
When fine young men like Private William Long are gunned down in America’s heartland for choosing to serve their country, we are reminded of how high the stakes really are. It’s imperative that the pro-troop message be heard far and wide.
The killer said that he wanted to kill as many Army personnel as possible. According to the police, he had over 200 rounds of ammunition still on him when he was apprehended.
We have to keep the pressure on Congress to stop any funding for closing Guantanamo Bay and bringing the terrorists to the United States. This would force Israel to recognize Hamas as a legitimate negotiator in the delusional Two-State solution. Also it would entail America adding legitimacy to a transnational terrorist organization that doesn’t even pretend to ever recognize Israel to exist as a nation. Adding American legitimacy to Hamas would validate Iran sending arms, training and money to Hamas to further Iran’s hegemonic goals which include the destruction of Israel.

Of which country was he speaking?
Was it Saudi Arabia, where public facilities are segregated by sex, and where a pervasive system of gender apartheid denies women the right to drive, to dress as they choose, to freely marry or divorce, to vote, to appear in public without a male "guardian," or to give testimony on an equal basis with men?
Was it Jordan, where the law explicitly bars Jews from citizenship and where the sale of land to a Jew was for decades not only illegal, but punishable by death?
Was it Iran, where homosexuality is a capital crime — at least 200 Iranian gays were executed last year - and whose president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asserted at Columbia University that there are no homosexuals in Iran?

The General Assembly president, a radical Maryknoll priest who served as Nicaragua's foreign minister during the Sandinista regime in the 1980s, was not referring to any of the Middle East's Muslim autocracies and dictatorships, virtually all of which discriminate against ethnic and religious minorities. He was speaking of the Jewish state of Israel, the region's lone democracy, and the only one that guarantees the legal equality of all its citizens - one-fifth of whom are Muslim and Christian Arabs.
D'Escoto's call for Israel to be shunned as a pariah and strangled economically came on the UN's Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, an annual occasion devoted to lamenting the rebirth of Jewish sovereignty in the 20th century, denouncing the national liberation movement — Zionism - that made that rebirth possible, and championing the cause of the Palestinian Arabs. The event occurs on or about Nov. 29, the anniversary of the UN vote in 1947 to partition Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. There are impassioned speeches, in which Israel's sins are enumerated and condemned, and the statelessness of the Palestinians is bewailed. Unmentioned is the fact that Palestine's Arabs would have had their state 60 years ago had they and the Arab League not rejected the UN's decision and chosen instead to declare war on the new Jewish state.
Like so much of what takes place at the UN, the obsession with demonizing Israel and extolling the Palestinians is grotesque and Orwellian. More than 1 million Israeli Arabs enjoy civil and political rights unmatched in the Arab world — yet Israel is accused of repression and human-rights abuse. Successive Israeli governments have endorsed a "two-state solution" - yet Israel is blasted as the obstacle to peace. The Palestinian Authority oversees the vilest culture of Jew-hatred since the Third Reich, and wants all Jews expelled from the land it claims for itself - yet Israel is labeled an "apartheid state" and singled out for condemnation and ostracism.
Make no mistake: In likening Israel to apartheid-era South Africa, the UN is engaged not in anti-racism but in anti-Semitism. In the 1930s, the world's foremost anti-Semites demanded a boycott of Jewish businesses. Today they demand a boycott of the Jewish state.

Ever since rumors of Iran going beyond the use of peaceful technology with their nuclear program there have been hints of military strikes (and HERE) from either Israel or the USA or both to set Iran’s nuclear back.
It became clear as Bush’s popularity began to shrink coupled with zero support with the Russian and Chinese portions of the United Nations Security Council that the Bush Administration was not going to involve the USA in a military strike against Iran. This so much the case a political rumor escaped that Ehud Olmert visited Bush to get the go ahead for Israel to do a solo strike against Iran’s nuclear capability. Bush did not give that go-ahead.
Now the rumors are beginning to fly again and only action will verify the difference between reality and rumor.
That rumor is that Israel is considering a solo strike against Iran before President Elect Obama takes Office on January 20, 2009. The reasoning being that Bush’s hands are even more tied and President Elect Obama is so pro-Arab that he will be more ambitious to strip Israel back to the pre-1967 borders before Arab invaders made yet another attempt to destroy Israel – and lost. Coincidently this pre-1967 border plan is a Saudi initiative.
I have been very critical of the Bush Administration’s arm twisting of Israel to create a sovereign Palestinian State. Part of the reason for this criticism is that the Islamofascist Arabs terrorizing Israel have no claim to a creation of a nation. That sounds harsh doesn’t it?
The Arab version is that the Israeli army (or whatever it was called back then) forced the Arabs to leave. Indeed, there were minor cases of Jewish expulsion of Arabs. I say minor for the Jewish expulsion of Arabs in isolated areas was due to Arabs terrorizing Jews – a foretaste of things to come. Any Jewish/Israeli army expulsions were more the result of tactics against a hostile enemy than a forced march of non-Jews. An overwhelming number of Arabs fled just as they were told to do by the invading Arab armies who felt the hubris of assured victory.
1. The Arabs collectively agreed to NOT matriculate displaced Arabs within Arab nations that lost the war in order to create a continuous problem for Israel.
2. From 1949 through 1973 Arab nations launched multiple invasions of Israel which added to the misery of the Arab Refugees. Why? Because the invading Arab nations lost every single war they initiated. The resulted in Israel gaining military control that any other part of the world would be recognized at the least just compensation for invasions. The only provocation for these invasions was because Jews returned to the land of their origins so as to escape racism and persecution that had been experienced nearly since the Romans expelled the Jews in 70 AD.
Now I have become enlightened as to way Obama associations are so very important.
John Perazzo writing for Front Page Magazine draws a pretty good picture that continued associations are ongoing. Barack Hussein Obama has a foreign policy adviser known as Robert Malley. Malley in the tank as an anti-Israeli and his lineage is a family of down right Jew haters.
History will record that Barack Obama’s first act of diplomacy as America’s president-elect took place two days after his election victory, when he dispatched his senior foreign-policy adviser, Robert Malley, to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad—to outline for them the forthcoming administration’s Mideast policy vis-à-vis those nations. An aide to Malley reports, “The tenor of the messages was that the Obama administration would take into greater account Egyptian and Syrian interests” than has President Bush. The Bush administration, it should be noted, has rightly recognized Syria to be not only a chief supporter of the al Qaeda insurgency in Iraq, but also the headquarters of the terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the longtime sponsor of Hamas—the terrorist army whose founding charter is irrevocably committed to the annihilation of Israel. Yet unlike President Bush, Obama and Malley have called for Israel to engage in peace negotiations with Syria.
In his capacity with ICG, Malley directs a number of analysts who focus their attention most heavily on the Arab-Israeli conflict, the political and military developments in Iraq, and Islamist movements across the Middle East. Prior to joining ICG, Malley served as President Bill Clinton’s Special Assistant for Arab-Israeli Affairs (1998-2001), and as National Security Adviser Sandy Berger’s Executive Assistant (1996-1998).
Robert Malley was raised in France. His lineage is noteworthy. His father, Simon Malley (1923-2006), was a key figure in the Egyptian Communist Party. A passionate hater of Israel, the elder Malley was a close friend and confidante of the late PLO terrorist Yasser Arafat; an inveterate critic of “Western imperialism”; a supporter of various revolutionary “liberation movements,” particularly the Palestinian cause; a beneficiary of Soviet funding; and a supporter of the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. According to American Thinker news editor Ed Lasky, Simon Malley “participated in the wave of anti-imperialist and nationalist ideology that was sweeping the Third World [and] … wrote thousands of words in support of struggle against Western nations.”
In a July 2001 op-ed which Malley penned for the New York Times, he alleged that Israeli—not Palestinian—inflexibility had caused the previous year’s Camp David peace talks (brokered by Bill Clinton) to fall apart. This was one of several controversial articles Malley has written—some he co-authored with Hussein Agha, a former adviser to Arafat—blaming Israel and exonerating Arafat (the most prolific Jew-killer since Adolph Hitler) for the failure of the peace process.
Malley’s identification of Israel as the cause of the Camp David impasse has been widely embraced by Palestinian and Arab activists around the world, by Holocaust deniers like Norman Finkelstein, and by anti-Israel publications such as Counterpunch. It should be noted that Malley’s account of the Camp David negotiations is entirely inconsistent with the recollections of the key figures who participated in those talks—specifically, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, then-U.S. President Bill Clinton, and then-U.S. Ambassador Dennis Ross (Clinton’s Middle East envoy).
Malley also has written numerous op-eds urging the U.S. to disengage from Israel to some degree, and recommending that America reach out to negotiate with its traditional Arab enemies such as Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah (a creature of Iran dedicated to the extermination of the Jews and death to America), and Muqtada al-Sadr (the Shiite terrorist leader in Iraq). In addition, Malley has advised nations around the world to establish relationships with, and to send financial aid to, the Hamas-led Palestinian government in Gaza. In Malley’s calculus, the electoral victory that swept Hamas into power in January 2006 was a manifestation of legitimate Palestinian “anger at years of humiliation and loss of self-respect because of Israeli settlement expansion, Arafat’s imprisonment, Israel’s incursions, [and] Western lecturing …”
Moreover, Malley contends that it is both unreasonable and unrealistic for Israel or Western nations to demand that Syria sever its ties with Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, or Iran. Rather, he suggests that if Israel were to return the Golan Heights (which it captured in the 1967 Six Day War, and again in the 1973 Yom Kippur War—two conflicts sparked by Arab aggression which sought so permanently wipe the Jewish state off the face of the earth) to Syrian control, Damascus would be inclined to pursue peace with Israel.
Malley has criticized the U.S. for allegedly remaining “on the sidelines” and being a “no-show” in the overall effort to bring peace to the nations of the Middle East. Exhorting the Bush administration to change its policy of refusing to engage diplomatically with terrorists and their sponsoring states, Malley wrote in July 2006: “Today the U.S. does not talk to Iran, Syria, Hamas, the elected Palestinian government or Hezbollah…. The result has been a policy with all the appeal of a moral principle and all the effectiveness of a tired harangue.”
This inclination to negotiate with any and all enemies of the U.S. and Israel—an impulse which Malley has outlined clearly and consistently—has had a powerful influence on Barack Obama.
It is notable that six months ago the Obama campaign and Malley hastily severed ties with one another after the Times of London reported that Malley had been meeting privately with Hamas leaders on a regular basis—something Obama had publicly pledged never to do. At the time, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt minimized the significance of this monumentally embarrassing revelation, saying: “Rob Malley has, like hundreds of other experts, provided informal advice to the campaign in the past. He has no formal role in the campaign and he will not play any role in the future.”
But indeed, within hours after Obama’s election victory, Malley was back as a key player in the president-elect’s team of advisors—on his way to Syria. Mr. Obama, meanwhile, received a most friendly communication from Hamas, congratulating him on his “historic victory.” _______________________________________
Islamic terrorism on a global scale is in effect a war of global circumstances; thus the moniker "Global War on Terrorism" (GWOT).
In war there is a necessity in democratic nations to limit certain civil rights because a war with a nation or a transnational Islamist requires the ability to engage in a military style rather than a civil style.
Otherwise spies or terrorists will utilize civil liberty laws as a weapon to reach their desired goal, which is the defeat of their foe.
Leftists should the success to understand the GWOT and not whine about giving rights to agents of murder based on international ideology.
Indeed Daniel Pipes writing for The Australian contradicts the Leftist attitude that transnational terrorism is an unwinnable war. Pipes focuses on military tactician retired Israeli Major General Yaakov Amidror.
Amidror appears to believe that using tactics different than conventional war yet with the same persistence of acquiring victory is the path to defeating transnational terrorism. Victory may not be a moment as when a nation signs surrender and terminating the war. Transnational terrorists are not nations and usually do not abide by international conventions.
Tactics must change to squelching transnational terrorists and their resources to render them ineffective. This would be a limited or transitory victory in which vigilance needs to be used to continue the experience of peace after the crushing of transnational resources is complete.

Cherson examines three “echelons” (you might say levels) of terrorism that get the supplies to the murdering Islamic terrorists.
I am certain it will confirm what you already know; however the surprising discovery is that the West looks the other way.
My fellow Christians I have to inform you that the Temple attributed to Solomon and the second Temple built by Zerubbabel and later alleged to have been renovated by Herod the Great NEVER existed.
The Freedom of Religion typical American might think, “So what? Matters of faith are a personal subjective thought process which is irrelevant to objective facts.”
A typical American might think, “The Christian faith believes Jesus Christ died physically on a cross and three days latter arose from his grave totally alive with full attributes of Godhood. Scientifically this is impossible yet I believe.”
The American point is Freedom of Religion does not affect the day to day lives of American society in a violent way with objective disagreements over subjective faith. In other words – Big Deal, you can believe as you like.
History has not shown this American belief in religion. Christians contrary to their own Scripture were barbaric between themselves and those outside of the faith of Christianity; i.e. persuasion was a violent issue. Greater education and an infusion of secularism has pretty much transformed the Western World to have a greater respect for human life even in the midst of religious and/or non-religious differences.
If you are a Christian or a Jew (ESPECIALLY A JEW) the Mohammedan tendency toward violence and Islamic Supremacism should perk your ears when you hear or read that the Bush Administration and the fading Olmert government are determined to do whatever it takes to establish an Islamofascist Palestinian State. Here is the real bad part of a sovereign Islamofascist Palestinian State: part of the forced deal is to divide Jerusalem between Jewish/Israel sovereignty and Islamofascist/Palestine sovereignty. Even more notorious is a Jerusalem division would place the Temple Mount under the direct authority of Islamofascist Palestine.
The reason a divided Jerusalem is evil is because the Islamofascist Palestinians of have a determined history of destroying Jewish Holy sites and to a lesser degree Christian sites. In addition the predominant Islam thought paraded in the 21st century is that the first and second Jewish Temples NEVER EXISTED.
The discovery has met with skepticism from an archaeologist with Waqf, the Jordanian-controlled trust that manages the 36-acre compound. And it has not pleased some Muslim leaders, who regard the site as an exclusive Muslim preserve. Some have denied that the Jews ever built a temple there. Sheikh Ikrema Sabri, the former mufti of Jerusalem, recently told the Jerusalem Post that the temples of Solomon and Herod never existed.
"There was never a Jewish temple on al-Aqsa, and there is no proof that there was ever a temple," Sabri said. "Because Allah is fair, he would not agree to make al-Aqsa if there were a temple there for others beforehand."
Sabri also said the Western Wall, revered by Jews as the last remnant of a huge retaining barrier built by King Herod to support the vast plaza where the temple stood, has no historical significance for Jews.
"The wall is not part of the Jewish temple. It is just the western wall of the mosque," he said. "There is not a single stone with any relation at all to the history of the Hebrews." (SFGate.com)
Here is another example of denial of facts:
When the kingdom of Jordan ruled Jerusalem's Old City between 1948 and 1967, Jews were barred from sacred sites, and the famous Hurva and Ramban synagogues were blasted into rubble. But since capturing eastern Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War, Israel has ensured Christians and Muslims free access to their holy places. Why? Because from its inception, the Jewish state was a liberal democracy, enshrining religious freedom in its declaration of independence and enforcing it through policy and law.

Muslims deny the existence of the Jewish Temple today; however it is very obvious that is Islamic Supremacist racism. The Jerusalem Waqf of 1925 printed a travel brochure that asserted the Temple Mount was Jewish and that the Jewish Temple existed on the Temple Mount.
There have been tons of artifacts and archeological discoveries that also prove the existence of the Temple. One of the most recent was the discovery of the Hasmonean Jerusalem wall. The Hasmonean dynasty started out well with the Maccabean revolt against Greek/Syrian oppressive rule which one the day and rededicated the Temple. The Maccabean revolt had some miraculous occurrences involving the rededication of the Jewish Temple which is today celebrated as Hanukkah. The Hasmonean wall proves the existence of the Temple.
The Mohammedan denial of the existence of the Temple will lead to Islamofascist actions that history shows will occur. The Jerusalem Church of the Holy Sepulcher will be heavily oppressed if not destroyed AND total control of the Temple Mount by Mohammedans will result in the eradication of that which is Jewish not to mention the prohibition of Jews to visit the Western Wall of the remains of the Temple.
It is a bad scenario. DO NOT DIVIDE JERUSALEM! DO NOT GIVE TOTAL CONTROL OF THE TEMPLE MOUNT TO MOHAMMEDANS!
Michael Ledeen has written an essay entitled “Iran and the Problem of Evil.” Now it is obvious the title corresponds to the saber rattling that has been occurring between Iran versus the USA and Israel.
The thing Ledeen successfully accomplishes in the essay is not focusing on Iran as the evil. Ledeen quite matter-of-factly includes the radical Sunnis and Shi’ites together as a movement that is evil and threatening to the West’s existence.
Ledeen quite nicely condemns the political leaders of the West of the same moronic stupidity that was in the air when Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy publicly pronounced what their agenda was while the Democratic West viewed it all as the ravings of evil political leaders that not only had no bite to their bark but could not believe sane political leaders would embark on creating a war that would mean the deaths of millions.
The just could not see past their idealistic noses.

Robert Zubrin wrote a book in 2007 entitled “Energy Victory.” The book can be purchased at Zubrin’s promotional website EnergyVictory.net. Here is the promotional paragraph on the book:
“Introducing ‘Energy Victory’: a bold plan for breaking the economic stranglehold that the OPEC oil cartel has on our country and the world by best selling author Robert Zubrin”.
I have to be honest I have never heard of Robert Zubrin; nonetheless Kyros of Report on Arrakis got my attention with this short post:
By mandating Flex Fuel Cars, the US Congress can break the oil cartel’s vertical monopoly on the international fuel supply, protecting consumers worldwide from the threat of future unlimited OPEC prices increases, and taking our fate out of the hand’s of terrorism’s financiers.
You have to know why this grabbed my attention. Yes sirree, the price of gas at the pumps. Just imagine having an actual feasible plan to wean Americans away from the oil dependence from a group of people (even if some of the Mohammedan governments pretend to be American friendly) who hate the very air we breathe.
The book “Energy Victory” is probably more relevant now in 2008 than when it was published in 2007. Zubrin has been giving speeches promoting the plan in his book. CSPAN has been running a November 2007 speech. The most recent speech on CSPAN was in April 2008 and can be viewed online at CSPAN’s website.
On Zubrin’s website there is a link to a November 2007 review of “Energy Victory” which gives a glimpse of Zubrin’s plan to throw a monkey wrench into the domination of foreign dependence on suspect friends and obvious American enemies. The science of oil deliverance is a tad beyond my comprehension; ergo you should go to the book review and let me know what you understand taking a stab in the heart of foreign oil.
Barack Obama is whining in his cheese because Senator McCain and President Bush have labeled Obama an appeaser.
Yeah … Obama’s concept of winning a war is having multilateral talks with rogue nations and Islamist terrorists to give them what they want while the U.S. of A. skips town.
Sounds like appeasement to me!
Then Obama gets his back all hunched up and says if they want to debate about protecting America he is ready for that one because Bush’s policies have divided America and the President and his supporters – like McCain – have a lot to answer for.
What a load of Dem dung: It is the Dems and the Leftist MSM that have divided America with distorted reports while not verbally attacking America’s enemies for attacking America on our homeland and abroad.
Islamofascist terrorism has attacked American assets through Republican and Democratic Presidencies. Do you think America should lie down after invading Afghanistan just because al Qaeda and its closest regional ally the Taliban colluded on the final straw that awakened a President to not look the other way about the existence of Islamist rogue nations and terrorists?
No the Democrats (and Obama is one of them) saw an opportunity to bring down a Presidency that was reversing Left Wing social engineering by using a rough stretch in the GWOT as a center piece. That is not only appeasement it is treacherous politics as far as I am concerned.
The Dems are further using the Leftist MSM in quoting McCain to allude that sooner or later America will have to deal with Hamas, while claiming that Obama would never negotiate with the terrorist organization Hamas.
Hmm … Let’s think about that before people go off and agree with the Dhimmicrats that McCain is wading in hypocrisy. I suspect McCain’s view of negotiation would be completely different than a Dhimmicrat version of negotiation.
I suspect the Dhimmicrats would fall in line with the current Bush Administration of giving everything but the proverbial kitchen sink to Hamas and Fatah (both are equally terrorists) believing that would secure peace in the Middle East between Mohammedan nations and Israel.
When comes to the time to “deal” with Hamas it should be more like this: You will recognize Israel’s existence and quit trying to bring a second Jewish Holocaust or American and Israeli troops will march through Gaza to destroy Hamas and its so-called civilian supporters.
Now that is what I call negotiation. AND that is why Hamas has publicly endorsed Obama for President in America.
I am looking forward to that debate with between Obama and McCain so I can watch Obama squirm when McCain uses reality to slap Democratic Party half-truths down Obama’s throat.

Personal experience is a powerful motivator for future action. As those of you who have read my book Because They Hate know, my experience of losing my country (Lebanon) to the terror of militant Islam powerfully motivates me to warn America to take action.
One of our ACT! for America chapter leaders recently shared with us a little of her personal experience with militant Islam. In it, she asks the very same question I asked my mother as we sat in our bomb shelter: “Why do they hate us?”
Her story is another reminder to all of us what we are up against. I applaud her courage and her devotion to the America we love. I applaud her for choosing to fight instead of running away in fear. She is an inspiration to every one of us!

Out of Africa and Back Again. A Taste of Militant Islam.
My name is Deborah Simon. I am an American.
In 1967 when I was 5 years old my family was evacuated out of Tripoli, Libya, North Africa during the political unrest that followed the Six-Day Arab-Israeli War.
Forty years later Islamofascism has followed me home to my own country, America. I am not running again! It is time to fight and I will not stop until we win!
Here is my story.
I was born in West Germany. My father was in the American Air Force and stationed there where he met my mother, an immigrant from Prussia. She spoke Hebrew and German. Her mother was Jewish. My sister Erika and I spoke German and English.
Our first tour was to Tripoli, Libya, North Africa in 1967. The very city, state and country where in 1986 President Reagan launched an air strike against Muammar Qaddafi in retaliation for his numerous terrorist acts.
My earliest memories of North Africa were beautiful Tripoli, Libya, the Mediterranean Sea where I learned to swim, the camel rides, the souks (village markets) where we loved to buy exotic foods and trinkets and home furnishings. And the fairs held by the military base on the beach by the sea where all were welcome.
We lived outside the base and we loved the drive along the Mediterranean Sea every day to the school on Wheelus Air Force Base.
Then came the Arab-Israeli Six-day war in 1967. It brought immediate anti-American sentiment throughout Libya and this brought on not so fond memories -- all Libyan Jews were forced to leave the country.
I remember once my sister Erika and I walking downtown with my mother. Muslims riding by on their bicycles began spitting at us and hitting my mother so hard it almost knocked her down. Her “crime”? She was 'Western' and was wearing a dress with no sleeves. I will never forget how afraid we all were, all of us crying and asking “why do they hate us?”
Out of fear we stayed out of sight after that. No more visiting the souks that I loved so much or going to the Mediterranean Sea.
Soon after that the U.S. embassy in Libya was attacked, and all American families were strongly urged to evacuate. My father called to tell my mother to get to the airport on Wheelus Air Force Base. He told my mother that it was urgent to leave right away, that we were being evacuated and not to pack anything except to grab his attaché case of important papers. We begged our mother to let us bring our “dollies” but we were told we could bring nothing. My sister and I hid our 'dollies' under our beds to keep them safe and cried our eyes out. We left with only the clothes on our backs.
So, my sister and mother and I loaded into that little red Volkswagen bug along with the neighbor lady Emma and her two small children Stedman and Lena. We were almost there when we were shot at by Muslims. Thank God Arab security rode up on horses and stopped them, for I would not be telling my story today if not for them.
I remember that I kept crying and asking my mother what was going on. She kept screaming at me to keep my head down and to keep the other children's heads down too. She was holding up my dad’s attaché case to the window thinking it would somehow shield us. I am not positive but I am sure attaché cases were not bulletproof back then.
My father made sure we were on the second plane evacuated out of North Africa to Madrid, Spain that fateful day. He was beside himself -- he didn't know when or if he would see us again.
After take off, the lady sitting behind us on the plane was so upset she stood up and got sick all over my mother. With no clothes to change into my mom lived in those clothes the whole trip. She had only a bag of hair rollers in her hand.
From Madrid, Spain we went to Albany, Georgia, where we spent several months before my parents made a decision for us to go back to Africa.
Returning to a now unfriendly country in 1968 was a very hard decision for my parents. We had been separated from my father for 9 months and we had to weigh the risks. Things had calmed down a little. This time we lived on the base for obvious security reasons. We very seldom ventured off the base. When we did go out my mother would tie pacifiers around our necks with string to make us look like babies. We would cry in protest, saying “we’re not babies.”
One day, in 1969 we were caught in Qaddafi's motorcade in our little red Volkswagen. Just when we thought things were getting safer, the day we go out there's a revolution and a military coup! Qaddafi had recently staged a successful coup against the Libyan government.
It was 110-115 degrees outside. We tried to roll the windows up but we were not fast enough. Raging Muslims spit on my little sister before we could get the windows up. They were rocking our car and shouting at us. We made it out of there and back to the base by the sheer grace of God. Again we asked, “Why do they hate us? Why would they want to hurt little girls?”
Soon after, we all left North Africa for good.
There is so much more to this story, but to this day my father does not like to talk about it. In fact, he breaks down in tears whenever one of us brings it up.
Let me end with this:
This was my first taste of Islamofascism, what I now know to be the hatred by radical Muslims towards anyone who will not worship Allah or be enslaved by their cruelty and oppression. Those they cannot dominate they will kill. ___________________________
