Leftist War on Christianity Heats Up During Thanksgiving and Christmas

As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach in this predominantly Christian believing or at least mental assenting nation, it appears another round of the Federal Government bureaucracy (no doubt aligned with the Left) is again prohibiting American citizens their First Amendment right worship without Government interference.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Apparently since the Federal bureaucracy and the Judicial Branch are not expressly mentioned in the First Amendment they have joined the Left and Secular Humanist organizations with an agenda to eliminate Christianity from American life.

And apparently the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued a Directive prohibiting religious symbolism at housing projects under HUD management.

Evidently this sparked some spirit into an 85 year old grandmother whose name is Mrs Arnold living at the Plant City Living Center in Florida. Mrs. Arnold contacted the American Family Association (AFA) for help in preventing HUD from Scrooging Christmas.

The AFA operates an email alert list which has been very successful in battling the Left Wing influences against Christianity in America.

Below is the
AFA alert and update that has apparently pressured HUD to rescind their anti-Christian/anti-Christmas Directive.

Federal government tells 85-year-old grandmother she cannot put an angel on Christmas tree

Send an e-mail to the Secretary of HUD and President Bush asking that HUD stop their policy.

    UPDATE!

AFA has been in contact with HUD officials and Steve Edelstein, attorney for Plant City Living Center. The policy banning religious symbols is being rescinded and a new policy allowing religious symbols is in effect immediately. Mr. Edelstein is preparing a statement which will be posted here as soon as we receive it.

    ORIGINAL ALERT TEXT

The Plant City Living Center has told Mrs. Arnold, an 85-year-old grandmother in Florida, that federal law prohibits her from displaying any religious words or items associated with Christmas in the common area of her apartment building.

According to the Center, The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a directive banning "any religious symbols or religious words associated with Christmas." Under the guidelines issued by HUD,
the elderly grandmother cannot place a small Christmas tree outside her door (because that area is a "commons area") if it contains any religious symbols or religious words, even an angel!

If the residents want to have a Christmas party in their Community room, they cannot call it a Christmas party. The Center says HUD directs residents not to use the word "Christmas" but to use the word "Holiday."

A Sunday School class from a church near Mrs. Arnold's apartment comes every year to host a Hanging of the Greens and Christmas Party for all the residents. She said the highlight of their Christmas Party comes at the very end of The Hanging of the Greens when someone places the angel on top of their Christmas tree.
Their tradition is now banned by the federal government.

The federal government is becoming increasingly active in banning Christianity from the public square. Earlier, the National Park Service removed the wording "Laus Deo" (Latin for "Praise be to God") from a replica of the cap of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. and the Veterans Administration banned the script of the flag-folding ceremony mentioning "Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob," and "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" at over 100 national cemeteries.
Both of these were rescinded after AFA supporters sent emails to proper authorities.

    TAKE ACTION

Send an e-mail to the Secretary of HUD and President Bush asking that HUD stop their policy.
The role of the federal government is to defend our religious rights, not take them away.

Take a stand against those who seek to take away our religious freedom by distributing "Merry Christmas. God's Good News" Christmas buttons to fellow church members, friends and family! Wear your button with pride. If we fail to protect our religious freedom, we will lose it!

    Send Your Letter Now!

The HUD letter has not come as of this posting. Keep in mind Federal bureaucratic Directives do act as a rule of law and they are not necessarily a universal across the board application. Even if HUD keeps their word to the AFA concerning the Pine City Living Center, a HUD directive may very in another State or community. If you are a Christian of Whatever Denomination (Protestant, Catholic or Orthodox) please consider the actions urged by this AFA Alert to continue.

There is a Secular Humanist agenda to nullify the foundations and morality inherent in Christianity. We can fight back with more than just words and letters, Christians have the force of the Promises of the efficacy of Prayer. The more that Pray the Word of God in the spirit combined with the resulting Godly wisdom on how to act the more certain Christianity will prevail against the agenda of Secular Humanism and the Left.
