Romney Out for Party, Huckabee Continues

Today Mitt Romney surprised me and pulled out of the GOP race for President. That leaves the front runner McCain and Huckabee. Whoever else running for the GOP nomination (like Ron Paul) are merely also-rans without a prayer of running.

I have heard on Fox News that Huckabee intends to continue on at least until there is a mathematical elimination of a Candidate.

This brings an interesting situation for the Republican Party. There are factions that rabidly dislike McCain and Huckabee. Ann Coulter says she will vote for Hillary before she would vote for McCain. Roaming around the blogosphere I have discovered Conservatives that totally do not believe Huckabee’s self-proclaimed Conservatism because of the way he managed Arkansas as Governor.

I am pleased Romney opted out. I believe Romney would have made a great management President; however as a Bible believing Christian I believe
Mormonism is a cult pretending to be a Christian denomination. Mike Huckabee would be a Social Conservative; however there are tax issues and ethics issues that might contradict his Social Conservative stand.

Of course McCain is vilified by Conservative Republicans due to the his part in the Constitutionally questionable McCain/Feingold legislation and working with Ted Kennedy pass legislation favorable for illegal immigrants. This has caused a McCain Derangement Syndrome that ignores a voting history of pro-life and similar Conservative issues.

Unless Huckabee pulls off a miracle I am supporting McCain as the GOP man to rally around to keep the Left out of the White House.
