Commutation for Ramos and Compean

One of the hugest miscarriages of justice in American history was at least partly alleviated yesterday. In President George W. Bush’s last full day of Office he commuted the sentence of unjustly convicted Border Patrol Guards Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. Incredulously Federal Prosecutor Johnny Sutton went after Ramos and Compean for shooting fleeing drug smuggler Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila in the buttocks.

Can you imagine placing the full weight of the law on American Border Agents instead of a drug smuggler bringing drugs to be sold to Americans who in turn have a huge percentage of it ruining American lives due to bad choices?

President Bush should have issued a full pardon rather than a commutation.

A Remembrance Of Pardons Past

Shortly after reading the Evans-Novak Political Report I received via email I stumbled upon this brilliant article that exposes the duplicity of the Democratic Party. As you know the Democrats (especially the fringe Dem haters of President Bush) are expressing public outrage of the President’s Commutation of Libby’s sentence. Keep in mind it is a Commutation and not a Pardon.

Hmmm … Let us read of Clinton’s outright Pardon’s of political cronies before he departed office.

Libby Commutation

Since Robert Novak was highly involved in Plamegate and the prosecutorial abuse case against I. Scooter Libby, I am going to post an excerpt form the email list of Evans-Novak Political Report sent out on July fifth. The excerpt deals with Libby’s Sentence Commutation and the responses from Democrats and Republicans.

Personally I was in the boat that President Bush should provide a FULL PARDON to Libby but I have since rethought that position. I was just so outraged that Fitzgerald would pursue such a minor indictment based on memory equated as perjury when Fitzgerald’s commission as Special Prosecutor was to nail those involved in outing Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA agent. At best Plame managed a pencil pushing network, maybe someone at Office Max had his identity exposed as a result of outing Plame – I don’t know.

Currently I am of the opinion that Libby will utilize the system to expose Fitzgerald as the vindictive creepy Prosecutor that he is. I am confident Libby will win on Appeals even if it goes to the Supreme Court.
