Will Taiwan be the Next Georgia?

America’s failure to back Georgia with nothing more than fancy diplomatic words might inspire China to invade Taiwan. Old Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalist Chinese fled Mao’s Red Chinese forces in 1949 to Taiwan. At the time the U.N. did not recognize Mao’s control of the Mainland China as the government of the Chinese people. Chiang’s little demoralized army fled to Taiwan under American protection.

America forced the U.N. to maintain the myth that Chiang represented Chinese sovereignty from little Taiwan. America pulled it off because of Red China’s inferior technological military. The days, they are a chang’in.

Red China eventually became recognized as THE China relegating the Nationalist Chinese to inhabitants of the Island of Taiwan. The Red Chinese deal is that Taiwan was under Mainland sovereignty before the Nationalist fled in defeat; ergo Taiwan still is under Mainland sovereignty (
There is a legitimate dispute to the Red Chinese claim).

The threat of an American Military is the only thing that has kept the Taiwanese (combined Chinese and Taiwanese natives) people to develop a free democratic nation.

Georgia is an American ally. Russia invaded Georgia with impunity. America has done nothing except to say there will be consequences. Hmm … I am fairly certain Russia is still looking for those consequences as Georgia has been raped of its infrastructure and Russian tanks in sight of the Georgian Capital of Tbilisi.

America, Russia is laughing in your face.

America, will Communist China laugh in your face as it forcibly occupies Taiwan?

Georgia, Israel, and the nature of man

Caroline Glick word slaps the West for its moral bankruptcy for not protecting a nation that chose the democratic rule of law as opposed to the authoritarian rule of law. That’s right, empty platitudes did nothing expel autocratic Russia from democratic Georgia.

Glick masterfully ties it all together and relates how Georgia being thrown under the bus affects Israel.

Russia Keeps Brutalizing U.S. Ally Georgia

Okay, I know I am probably a neocon blowhard. I also know that Georgia is not in NATO.

On the other hand I know that Russia has oppressed the Georgian people either under Czarist or Soviet rule over the last two hundred years.

I know that Georgia was one of the “
coalition of the willing” when America decided to end the genocidal terrorist supporting regime of Saddam Hussein while Russia was definitely one of the European supporters of allowing Saddam Hussein’s reign of terror to continue. Indeed Georgia had 2000 troops in Iraq that America airlifted back to Georgia to face the big bully Philistine Goliath Russia.

Where is the American and Western Democracies (that still a little military oomph) at in telling Russia get out or we will join and kick you out.

Yeah, yeah I know. The rest of Europe has become pussies because economically Russia is a huge supplier of oil and natural gas.

I know this is a tired cliché, but this fear of war thing to keep the status quo has become the entry level to future military devastation for quite some time. First the carnage of WWI became the set-up not to mess with Hitler and look what happened. Then Europe (and geez America) KNEW Stalin had turned the Soviet Communists into the evil empire and did nothing to nip in the bud what would be a half century of Democracy/Communist Cold War with blood spilled among mutual client States.

Just think if America and Europe had the cajones to act on
George Patton’s warning of the Soviets rather than firing him. Sure WWII would have shifted from Germany to the USSR but the combined Democracies and the only nation in possession of a nuclear bomb would have crushed the Communist Evil Empire.

So what is the world’s Democracies doing about Russian aggression? Probably rightly trying to find a diplomatic solution for Georgia and Russia; however
I place no trust in the Russian liars.

Russia has already said they have called a cease fire and pulled back and are not in Gori, Georgia. The news channel I was watching demonstrated Russia was a liar because they should live feed of Russian tanks moving into Gori rather than out of Gori.

It is time to rally the Democracies to step up and show preparedness for war. I mean NATO existed to thwart Soviet aggression. What’s the difference? Did not Western Europe receive the benefit of oil and gas from pipelines that were under the former USSR control? So if Brezhnev had said if you protect small nations from the USSR that were NATO members, would NATO fold because of the potential of an economic rough time?

I mean Turkey is part of NATO as well. This is a chance to demonstrate a modern government instead of an Islamic government and start toot’ in the anti-Russian horn.

Okay enough venting. This is what
Yahoo News says about the current state of affairs in Georgia and Russian aggression.

Russia expands Georgia blitz, deploys ships

Is it Georgian genocide perpetrated on break-away South Ossetia or Russian aggression to annex South Ossetia and send a message to Georgia? OR perhaps Russia intends to take all of strategically located Georgia to thumb there noses at America. OR it is a combination of both: the Georgian military attempting to assert their national sovereignty while killing pro-Russian civilians and Russia using that as an excuse to annex all of Georgia.

Anyway
here is the latest I have read:

Turkey Hunts Down PKK Kurds in Kurdish Iraq

Turkey is on the offensive against Communist Kurds which are hiding in the Kurd autonomous region of Iraq. Turkey has longed warned the Iraqi government and the American government that if the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is not actively prevented from terrorist excursions into Turkey a military response would be imminent.

I am no lover of Turkey. Turkish history has been that as the last of the Mohammedan Empires (Ottoman Empire prior to the end of WWI) to viciously attack Christianity and Europe.

In the Middle Ages the old Ottomans would take the children of conquered Christians (mostly in the Balkans) and forcibly convert them into Mohammedans and train them to be a lethal medieval Special Forces to fight and conquer more Christian lands. These were the
Janissaries of old. As the 19th century was ending the Janissaries became a corrupt ineffective group for the Ottomans; however for hundreds of years prior to that these former Christian children forced to train as an elite military force were feared for their brutality.

Around 1830 the
Greeks began to throw off the brutality of the Ottoman Turks gaining Independence. By the end of WWI Greece nearly fulfilled their dream of reclaiming Greek land in Anatolia (Much of Turkey today) by driving to Ankara. Unfortunately Ataturk who had ended the Sultanate of the Ottoman Empire of after losing WWI stiffened to the Greek offensive. Turkish nationalism drove the Greek army out of Anatolia force Greeks who had live there for thousands of years to flee to the borders of present day Greece. Ataturk’s revenge meant the slaughter of Christian Greeks as they tried to flee, particularly in Greek Smyrna (now Turkish Izmir).

In recent history the
Ottomans and modern Turkey have executed Kurds who have rebelled due to Turkish oppression. Toward the end of WWI the Ottoman Turks forced Armenian Christians in a long march to separate them from Turkish society, this turned out to be genocide for nearly two million Christian Armenians.

As you can see I am no fan of Turkey. The only reason the Turkish nation is consider a Western and American ally is because of their strategic location betwixt Europe, Russia and the Mohammedan Middle East.

The tragedy of political reality makes Turkey a central cog to American National Interests as well as to Europe’s Interests. Although Turkey is officially a secular nation with a Mohammedan foundation and a modicum of democracy, Turkish National Interests and National Pride make them NOT nice people.

On the other hand the PKK Kurds are not nice people either. It is a Communist group of Kurds that use terrorism to inflict on Turkish civilians to achieve a goal of a sovereign State of Kurdistan. I am not a fan of Turkey but I loathe the ideology and tactical strategies of Terrorists. Terrorism is evil no matter who utilizes it homicidal practices to justify a wishful end.

The Kurdish people are currently the largest ethnic group in the world that does not have a nation. I have not ever looked into it but the Kurds are loathed by Middle Easterners: Turks, Arabs and Iranians. Each of these groups of fellow Mohammedans has had a hand in oppressing Mohammedan Kurds over the centuries.

As an American I tend to root for the underdog and that is exactly what the life of a Kurd has been. Again though, American National Interests should be cued to put down Communist Kurds and reinforcing a democratic society of Iraqi Kurds. In doing so, it may disperse a growing lack of trust between Turkey and America politically.

Some day Turkey will screw up. When that day happens I pray their geopolitical advantage is lost and perhaps Greece recapture their ancient lands.
